CASHLESS PAYMENT SYSTEM

WHICH TECHNOLOGY IS USED?

The technology used is called “RFID Technology”. RFID stands for “radio frequency identification”, which enables cashless payment but also access control.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A RFID medium – in our case a “cashless card” – is charged with either cash or by credit or debit card. This card is then used for any kind of payment at the entire regatta venue (market place, restaurant, south shore). With every payment the balance on the card is reduced by the corresponding amount of money.

WHAT IS A CASHLESS CARD?

A cashless card enables you to pay without cash at the regatta venue. The card – equipped with a RFID chip and in the handy size of a credit card – is charged on-site and then used for payment at the entire venue (market place, restaurant, south shore). Every card is identified by a unique UID Number of 14 digits that can be used to check on current balance, all performed transactions (chargements and payments) and receipts.

WHERE IS THE SYSTEM USED?

The cashless payment system is used at the entire regatta venue, as it reduces waiting times, provides transparency and security of payment transfers, and complex cash handling can be avoided. Also, the system follows Austria’s legal regulations of cash registers by providing online receipts (see also: Where do I find the receipts of my transactions?).

IS IT A SECURE PAYMENT METHOD?

The payment method is secured through a modern chip technology and a very high data encryption standard. Also, the system is extremely stable due to offline compability.

WHERE CAN I GET A CASHLESS CARD?

Every entry ticket is swapped for a cashless card at the entrance. Therefore, every spectator automatically receives a cashless card which holds information about access permits and credit balance. Additional cashless cards are available for a minor deposit at the top up stations on-site.

HOW CAN I CHARGE MY CASHLESS CARD?

The card can be charged at any time and as often as necessary on-site at either staffed or self-service top up stations with cash or by card. Please consider the opening hours of our staffed stations.

WHAT DOES A CASHLESS CARD COST?

Charging your cashless card is free. When charging your card for the first time, an activation fee of € 2.50 is deducted from your balance.

When returning your card, amounts from €2 upwards can be paid out in cash. Also, the balance will be rounded down to 50c amounts. Online pay out is free of charge.

WHAT IS THE UID NUMBER ON MY CASHLESS CARD FOR?

There is a unique UID number of 14 digits printed on the backside of every cashless card through which performed transactions and receipts can easily be monitored and payout can be arranged. You can charge your card at the top up stations on-site.

DOES MY CASHLESS CARD EXPIRE?

The cashless card itself does not have an expiration date. It can be used for all mass events at the regatta venue Linz-Ottensheim. The remaining balance on the card expires two weeks after the end of the corresponding event.

HOW DO I PAY WITH MY CASHLESS CARD?

The cashless card can be used directly after charging. After ordering the card is placed on a chip reader and the corresponding amount of money will be deducted within seconds – easily and securely. During payment the deducted amount can be checked on the display of the reader. Also, the remaining balance is shown after completed deduction.

I DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY ON MY CARD. WHAT CAN I DO?

No problem! The cashless card can be charged at the top up stations as often as necessary. The remaining balance can easily be transferred back to your bank account online (for free) or paid out on-site (incl. a minor processing fee).

HOW OFTEN CAN I CHARGE/USE MY CASHLESS CARD?

You can charge your card and pay with it as often as necessary (see also: How do I pay with my cashless card?).

WHERE CAN I FIND TOP UP STATIONS?

There are sufficient staffed and self-service top up stations at the entrance, at the market place, beneath the regatta restaurant and on the south shore. They are visibly labeled (“Top up Cashless”) and provide top up, payout, balance information, and card issuing services. Please consider the opening hours of our staffed stations.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE CASHLESS PAYMENT SYSTEM?

This quick and easy way to pay reduces the payment process to a few seconds. Complex cash handling is no more necessary and long waiting times are avoided. Also, the system raises security and transparency of the payment process. All receipts can be downloaded online.

WHERE CAN I CHECK MY CURRENT BALANCE AND MONITOR MY CONSUMPTIONS?

The current balance is shown on the chip reader after each deduction. Also, you can check your balance individually at our information stations on-site or online through the website. Moreover, our staff at the top up stations and sales booths will be happy to inform you about your current balance.

WHERE DO I FIND THE RECEIPTS OF MY TRANSACTIONS?

You can download the receipts of you consumptions at any time:

  1. Access our website.
  2. Log in with your UID number (printed on the backside of your cashless card).
  3. Go to “transactions” to check all of your payment processes.

CAN I SHARE MY CARD WITH A FRIEND?

You cannot transfer your balance from one card to another. However, the cards can of course be used by several persons.

WHAT DOES PERSONALISATION MEAN? DO I HAVE TO PERSONALISE MY CARD?

You can personalise your cashless card online by entering the UID number (printed on the backside of the card) together with your first name, last name, and email address. It is not obligatory to personalise your card, but it could save your balance and entry ticket in case of loss.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF PERSONALISATION?

In case of loss personalised cards can be blocked and reissued (for a blocking fee of € 10.-). An early notification of loss can therefore save your balance as well as your entry ticket. As the blocking process might take some time, we assume no liability of potential damage.

WHAT CAN I DO IF I LOSE MY CARD?

Please notify the loss of your card as early as possible at our staffed top up stations. If your card is personalised,  it can be blocked and reissued (for a blocking fee).

WHERE CAN I GET MY MONEY BACK?

Online: You can easily retransfer your remaining balance to your bank account online:

  1. Access our website.
  2. Log in with your UID number (printed on the backside of your cashless card).
  3. Follow the instructions under “Pay-out”. All data (first name, last name, bank account information, etc.) needs to be complete in order to arrange transaction. Domestic transferrals are free of charge and might take up to one week. After pay-out you can recharge your card at any time. Card deposit cannot be refunded when using online pay-out.

On-site: At the event you can also get your card paid out at our top up stations. Please consider the opening hours of our our staffed top up stations.
