The clock is ticking: 2000 athletes are looking forward to the grand opening of the 2019 World Rowing Championships. Meanwhile, the regatta venue Linz-Ottensheim has turned into a big construction site.
The partly covered grandstands with 2200 seats have started to take shape. Bernd Schuhmacher, Managing Director of the Organising Committee is strictly supervising all preparations for the 2019 World Rowing Championships.
The green meadows in the surrounding area are still empty. Soon they will be covered by team tents from 80 nations. Also, a warm-up tent for 25 rowing machines will be set-up there. Bernd Schuhmacher is satisfied: “Everything is in time. This is going to be a gigantic event.”
Also, the passage between the regatta course and the Danube will be closed for the World Championships. “A temporary bridge will lead the spectators to a second grandstand on the opposite shore,” so Schuhmacher.
