Topping-out Ceremony for the new National Training Centre
The shell construction of the new National Training Centre for Rowing and Canoeing in Linz-Ottensheim is nearly completed. On 15 May, the topping-out ceremony took place.
Huge progress has been made at the construction site of the new National Training Centre for Rowing and Canoeing in Linz-Ottensheim since the ground-breaking ceremony on 23 November 2016. In order to provide perfect conditions for the participants of the 2019 World Rowing Championships, an extensive investment programme, containing among other things renovated parking areas, five new boat halls as well as expanded indoor training facilities, has been drawn up for the regatta course in Linz-Ottensheim.
However, the competition site shall also sustainably benefit from the investment programme. “We want the regatta course to become a popular place for national as well as international training camps. Moreover, we are planning to hold international rowing events in Linz-Ottensheim at least every two years. At the moment we are in the bidding process for the 2020 World Rowing Masters Regatta,” declares Horst Anselm, President of the Organising Committee of the 2019 World Rowing Championships.
The shell construction works are nearly finished. On 15 May 2017, the topping-out ceremony has already taken place – with the President’s renowned goulash soup as culinary highlight.
